Frequently asked questions
An Akiya is an abandoned home. Essentially, Japan has a housing crisis. There are thousands of abandoned, perfectly livable homes all over the country. Some can be had for free! Most are affordable. Most come with land. It is a truly unique real estate opportunity!
Unlike our competitors, Akiya Helper has access to real estate databases directly, so you can search for your home online and receive more listings than you would elsewhere. We've been successfully helping buyers secure the Akiya homes in Japan for years, and our customer reviews show how happy our customers have been with our service. We feel our track record speaks for itself. We're also much more affordable! Most Akiya companies not only charge more upfront, but they are also more restrictive - only applying the fee to a single house, and charging additional fees by the hour. With us, you pay less upfront, and you get an unlimited service for three months!
The best way to reach us is to contact us through the site. If that doesn't work, reach out to us on Instagram.
You may be able to buy your home online! As of the time of writing, Japan does not have any restrictions for buying online. Anyone can buy a property, and many of our agents will perform the entire process online.
Yes and no. Buying an Akiya does not necessarily give you permission to stay in Japan. In order to stay long-term in Japan, you will need a valid visa. Most of our customers, however, buy homes and then stay in Japan for 90 days on a passport, using their home as a summer home, vacation home, or Airbnb.
Our services are good for 3 months. That means we will be your guide for 3 months, helping you find as many homes as you need, until you close the deal on one. If you want to close a deal on another, you would need to buy the service again, but while you're looking, our service is unlimited for 3 months!
Our listings are located at akiyahelper.homes, or by clicking the link HERE. A separate site is necessary due to the coding needed for the listings. The listing service is 15 dollars per month, unlimited access to our databases.
First, we are more affordable. Second, we offer a much more extensive database of properties. Thirdly, we work with local agents in Japan, and our employees are native Japanese speakers. Akiya Supporter was founded by our ex-employee Haruka, so everything she does, she learned from us!
Please read our refund policy which explains Japanese law regarding work already performed. We can't offer refunds, but your service is good for three months, so there is plenty of time to find your home.
